A Herkimer Diamond, is not really a diamond. A Herkimer Diamond actually is a variation of clear quartz. These unique quartz crystals were found in Herkimer, New York, thus its namesake. While typically found as double pointed quartz points, some gem enthusiasts have taken to faceting these gems. This particular gem is a large specimen, weighting over seven carats and is cut in the old "mine cut" fashion, meaning the top facet is very small. Looks like a very large genuine diamond!
